
How it Works
In Uganda, children die daily of malnutrition, and of lack of medical treatment, basic necessities & loving care. Many of the children live in desperate situations, sleeping on dirt floors and becoming infested with lice, fleas, and worms. Many will grow up with no education from lacking the means to pay public school fees.
Most of the children supported through sponsorship live with a single parent, intact impoverished family or extended family members; some are cared for in the ministry’s Children’s Home. Ministry staff see sponsored children weekly at AWANA club activities and visit their homes regularly to supplement food, clothing and household needs. Donations help us provide these educational and supplemental needs.
In order to raise these children out of the cycle of poverty into which they were born, sponsorship offers a quality education at the ministry’s Genesis Nursery and Primary School as well as secondary school (high school) and vocational or university training in the country.
We have also established Holmes Medical Clinic to provide affordable medical care to the community and our sponsored children. Your generous gift will allow us to provide ongoing, vital medical services to those who would otherwise go untreated for serious conditions.

Asanasi Naula was born on March 8, 2022. She currently lives with her grandmother along with her sister. Her father tragically died in a car accident in 2025. Her mother was overwhelmed, without resources, remarried, and left her two daughters with their grandmother. Her frail grandmother struggles daily to provide even the basics for Asanasi and her sister, Joy.
Asanasi currently needs help with food and clothing and will need sponsorship for school fees, uniforms, books and other essentials to begin her education. Sponsorship will give her the chance to start life on a stronger footing, with the promise of a brighter future.

Aaron’s young life has been marked by tragedy. His father died in May 2024 from multiple organ failure, and his mother passed away in October 2025 in a car accident. Aaron now lives with his uncle, who carries the heavy responsibility of caring for many children.
Despite the trauma he has endured, Aaron is a promising and determined child who shows remarkable resilience. Sponsorship will allow Aaron to attend HUM’s Genesis Primary School, where he will receive quality academic and biblical education, giving him the tools to overcome his painful past and build a hopeful future.

Rehanah is a happy child but often isolates herself from other children, preferring to stay with her grandmother. She has not yet started school and needs support to feel included with other children, to receive education, and to grow up knowing Jesus loves her. Sponsorship will allow Rehanah to attend school and help her grandmother to properly care for her.

Florence Konghai was born June 5, 2020. She is a bright and energetic girl who lives with both of her parents in a small village where life is marked by extreme poverty. Her father works tirelessly as a casual laborer, taking on any job he can find to put food on the table, while her mother, a housewife, has no source of income.
Despite these challenges, Florence has already begun school at a poorly resourced public institution. She is an active child who loves to play and make friends, and she dreams of achieving great things in life. Without support, however, her education and health are at risk. Sponsorship would provide Florence with school fees, food and medical care, giving her the chance to grow into the confident young woman she aspires to be.

Vanessa is currently attending pre-school in Genesis Primary School, and is doing well as one of the top students in her class.
Vanessa lost her mother to breast cancer, and she now lives with her father who works as a boda boda rider, riding a motorcycle for someone else in order to earn a small income to support the family.
Vanessa attends AWANA every Saturday and church every Sunday. She is known as a quiet, loving, and cheerful girl who brings joy to those around her.
However, due to the family’s financial situation, Vanessa needs support to help provide education and basic necessities. She is currently partially sponsored by a group of HUM graduates, but needs an additional sponsor to fully fund her basic needs.

Rita needs support for school fees, uniforms, books, school supplies, food and medical care. With sponsorship, Ritah could overcome the stigma and hardship she has faced, and step into a future filled with dignity and opportunity.

Joy Katooko was born January 30, 2020. She is a gentle girl whose life changed tragically when her father died in a car accident in 2025. Joy has not yet been able to attend school. She longs for the chance to learn, to play with other children, and to build a future beyond the hardships she has known. A sponsor’s support would mean everything to Joy, opening the door to education, stability, and hope.

Stephen Moses Kalabo is a young boy currently studying first year at Genesis Primary School. He lives with both of his parents, who struggle with extreme poverty.
His father works as a casual laborer, doing small jobs for people in order to earn money to feed the family, while his mother is a housewife without a steady source of income. Because of their difficult situation, it is often hard for the family to meet even basic needs such as food and shelter.
Despite these challenges, Stephen is doing well in school and performs well in his class. He is a bright child with great potential. Stephen needs support to help cover school fees, food, medical care and learning materials. He is currently receiving partial sponsorship from graduates of the HUM program, but needs an additional sponsor to fully fund his education and basic needs.

Sarah is the only girl in a family of six children and the youngest in her home. She lives with her mother after her father abandoned the family several years ago and started another household. Although she works very hard, her income is not enough to meet all the children’s educational and basic needs.
Sarah is currently at Genesis Nursery and Primary School. She is a quiet and gentle child who enjoys school. She has friends who support her, especially with reading and challenging subjects. In her free time, she enjoys playing with her friends. She regularly attends AWANA every Saturday and church on Sundays, which contributes to her moral and spiritual growth. At home, Sarah is responsible and caring. Being the only girl, she enjoys helping her mother with domestic work and also assists her elderly grandmother.

Stephen attends Genesis Primary School. His parents are divorced and he lives with his mother and step-father. They are both peasant farmers and have little money. Their home leaks when it rains.
Stephen enjoys school and playing foot ball. He also likes the color red. He has not attended AWANA yet, although invited many times. He is receiving a Biblical world-view from Genesis Primary School and will prayerfully receive Christ in his near future. HUM sponsorship is enabling him to attend school and receive help with basic needs.

Innocent was very sick when we started sponsoring him in 2015. He had very serious malnutrition. His mother could not care for him and she left him with his grandparents who have tried to care for him. He is still sick at times but has improved.
Innocent has struggled in school and is just finishing up the 5th grade. He is a very playful boy and enjoys bike riding. He is learning about Jesus at Awana and Sunday school as well as at our Genesis Primary School.
Innocent recently lost his sponsor and needs a new sponsor to help with his educational, nutritional, medical and other basic needs. Sponsorship will make a meaningful difference in his life, lifting him out of the cycle of poverty into which he was born.

Although both parents are alive, they are separated. Terah’s father suffers from ongoing health problems and works as a casual laborer in construction. Due to his poor health, he is unable to work for long hours and earns very little income. As a result, he is unable to adequately provide food for the children or pay school fees. This has placed Terah in a very vulnerable situation.
Terah is a social and cheerful child who loves school and is eager to continue his education. In his free time, Terah enjoys playing football (soccer) and riding a bicycle, activities that help him stay active and happy. Your support can restore Terah’s education and help change his life for the better.

Agnes is the only child of her mother, who struggles to make ends meet by doing different small jobs to support her. Agnes lost her father before she was born, and his relatives abandoned her and her mother at birth because she was a girl child. Since then, her mother has raised her alone under very difficult circumstances. Agnes transferred to secondary school at the beginning of 2026.
Agnes is a God-fearing and committed young girl who is actively involved in church activities. Agnes enjoys singing in Sunday School and often leads praise and worship during AWANA every Saturday. She also helps with serving food after AWANA, showing responsibility and a heart for service. In her free time, Agnes enjoys playing netball and participating in athletics, which help her stay active and confident.
Sponsoring Agnes will help secure her education and give her hope for a brighter future.

He enjoys playing football and listening to music during his free time. During school holidays, he actively participates in AWANA and Sunday school programs, showing his strong connection with church activities.
With support, Abuneri hopes to continue his education and create a brighter future for himself and his family.

Life has been extremely difficult for Kenneth. He often struggles with loneliness and hardship, but he continues to attend school with determination. Kenneth loves the color blue, and his favorite sport is football. He also attends AWANA every Saturday.
Kenneth needs urgent support so that he can continue his education, regain hope, and build a stable future.

Sadly, John lost his father in 2024 due to lung cancer. He now lives with his widowed mother, who is often sick and struggles to support the family. John is the youngest of six children.
John grew up in a God-fearing family, where his father was an active church member and served as the church treasurer. Today, John continues in that same faith, regularly attending AWANA and church, and he sings in the junior church choir.

Hellen enjoys playing netball and cooking, and she occasionally attends AWANA. She hopes to complete her vocational training so she can support herself and help her family in the future.
Sponsorship assistance will help her to successfully complete her vocational training and build a stable future.

Privis attends AWANA regularly, and her favorite color is blue. She enjoys playing timber games with friends. She dreams of becoming a teacher in the future, but the family’s financial challenges make it difficult for her to continue her education without support.

Gerald is a quiet and thoughtful boy. His mother left home many years ago and has not been involved in his care, and his father is unknown. He lives with his maternal grandmother, who is elderly and often unwell. Since early childhood, Gerald has depended entirely on his grandmother for love and support. Growing up under the care of an elderly guardian has made Gerald mature beyond his age. He is calm, serious, and responsible, often behaving like an adult because of the circumstances he has faced.
Gerald completed his Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE) last year and is currently waiting for his results to determine whether he can join secondary school or a vocational institution. He is eager to continue his education, but his situation places his future at great risk. With sponsorship support, Gerald would be able to continue his studies, receive proper care, and grow in a safe and supportive environment. This support would give him hope and the opportunity to build a stable and meaningful future.

She also hopes to live an adventurous life touring new places. She has been sponsored by Hines Ugandan Ministry for the past 11 years. She is in need of an additional sponsor because of the extra costs of secondary school.

Aidah is a very capable girl, does very well in school and loves secondary school. She enjoys singing in Sunday school choir and participating in the debate club at school. She needs additional assistance for the increased school fees of attending secondary school.

Joel is currently studying at Nabumali High School. He enjoys school very much, especially because he is an active football player on the school team. Joel finds learning exciting since many of the subjects he studies are new and interesting to him.
Joel lives with his elderly grandmother, who is blind and often sick, along with some of his uncles. His parents’ whereabouts are unknown because he was abandoned when he was still a baby. Because he has never known his parents, Joel lovingly refers to his grandparents as his mother and father.
Despite these challenges, Joel is a caring and responsible young man who helps his grandparents with domestic work at home. Spiritually, he is very active. He attends AWANA every Saturday and goes to church every Sunday whenever he is home from school. He also actively participates in AWANA games and activities.
Joel dreams of continuing his education and building a better future. However, he needs support to help him remain in school and achieve his goals.

Joseph lives with his father, but his father is elderly and sickly and cannot adequately provide for the family. His mother left them and married another man. Joseph needs support from an additional sponsor to cover his school fees and basic needs.

Trevor’s parents moved and left Trevor with his aunt since they were unable to provide for his secondary education and care for his basic needs. His aunt is helping to raise him and care for him. Trevor helps his aunt doing household chores and cooking when he is not in school.
Trevor started high school this year and he is performing well at school. He is living in a new place and studying in a new class environment and making new friends at school. In addition to his studies, he enjoys playing football at school and going to AWANA’s on Saturdays and church on Sundays. Trevor has a bright future ahead of him as he is able to complete his secondary education through the assistance of HUM sponsorship

Angella is a very intelligent and capable girl. She started Seroma Christian High School this year and is getting outstanding grades in most of her subjects. She is tall and slim and enjoys singing and dancing. She is one of the young star choir members. She is also an active member in AWANA and church.
Her father is a pastor and her mother left the family when she was very young. Her father had trouble taking care of her along with his responsibilities as a pastor, and placed her into another Christian family. This family became her guardians. He did this so that she could have motherly love and care. Angella needs help from an additional sponsor to be fully funded for her school fees and basic needs.

George is a tall, muscular boy who started secondary school this year. He is very happy to be able to attend secondary school at Kamonkoli College and takes his studies very seriously to do as well as he can. In his free time he likes dancing and watching movies.
George lost his father when he was five years old. He is the youngest in his family. He lives with his mother and siblings. His mother has done her best to provide for the family after she became a widow, but she earns little money as a temporary worker at odd jobs. George needs a secondary sponsor to help pay for his school tuition and basic needs.

Patrick comes from a polygamous family and his mother is the youngest wife. His father’s business failed during COVID and he has since been without an income. The entire family is suffering.
Patrick began high school this year and is need of a scholarship sponsor to help cover the additional cost that this brings. He is a good student, on the quiet side, and has a happy disposition. He has spent many years in our Awana program and Sunday school classes as well as learning a Biblical world view at Genesis Primary School. Sponsorship is making a meaningful difference in Patrick’s life, giving him hope for a future and the opportunity to become a Godly leader for his community and country.

Jeremiah currently studies at Nabumali High School. He enjoys school very much, especially because the school has a swimming pool where students sometimes swim during physical education classes. He is passionate about singing and praising the Lord. At school he actively participates in the school choir and Scripture Union, and at home he is also involved in the church choir. During AWANA meetings, Jeremiah often helps lead songs and activities.
His spiritual growth and involvement in church activities have helped him develop strong character. Jeremiah is known as a disciplined, humble, and respectful young man.
Although his parents separated due to family conflicts, Jeremiah now lives with his mother who works as a cleaner at a crafts center to support the family. With educational support, Jeremiah hopes to complete his studies and improve both his life and the life of his family.

Innocent helps his mother at home as well as focusing on his school work. He looks forward to graduating and God willing owning his own business in the future.

Hamim lives with her mother and brother. Her father is Muslim and when her mother received Christ, her father did not let her remain in the home and the family was separated. Her father offers no financial support. Hamim and her brother live with their mother and are in need of financial assistance in order to attend school.
Hamim started receiving help from HUM when she was in primary school and attended the Genesis Primary School. She learned about Jesus and attended AWANA and Sunday School. She is now in Secondary School and is doing well. Hamim has a bright future ahead of her as she grows in her relationship with Christ and is able to complete her education.

This left Andrew and his sister without a place to stay until an aunt took them in and provided shelter.
Despite the many hardships he has faced, Andrew has grown into a God-fearing and loving young man. He is very active in church activities, including intercession and worship services on Sundays. He also participates actively in AWANA praise and worship programs.
Andrew is currently studying at Bukedea Comprehensive School. He enjoys his school because it provides a new environment where he has made many friends. He is also a member of the Scripture Union at school.
